| The Yard Dogs at Bert's Bar |
| |
"Down
the way in Matlacha, they like to party every night and day
... " At least that's what the Yard Dogs are telling us in
their own unique way.
The Yard Dogs are the Cajun/Zydeco/Classic Rock/Blues Band
that has taken Southwest Florida by storm! They provide
high-energy, upbeat-tempo numbers that will have your hands
clappin' and your toes tappin' within seconds of hearing them
start to play! |
| |
| But if you want to hear the real story, you just have to
take a short trip to Matlacha and drop in at
Bert's Bar
on Wednesday nights. This is not a hardship. Bert's has
some of the best hamburgers and grouper sandwiches around and
you've never had a potato chip until you have sampled some of
their home made chips. |

Listening
to the Yard Dogs is habit forming. One song and you are ready
to take off your shoes and jump on the table with Charlie
while he belts out "Louisiana Bayou Band". One whole evening
with Charlie, Kip & Brian and you are hooked forever.
Kip Lawrence is a well known presence in the Pine Island
music community. In addition to playing the guitar and a
6-string banjo, composing songs and music and singing, he is
the front man for the group.
Kip sings about his lovely wife who moved from "Debutante
to Trailer Trash" just because she loves him. |

Charlie Kuchler is on the accordion, keyboards and
frequently on the chairs at Berts. His songwriting and singing
are a big hit with the crowd but apparently he's not making
enough yet to buy shoes because we've never seen him wearing
any!
Charlie's song, "Welcome to Paradise", besides being the
title song for their new CD, is a song about how life can
often trick you - even in paradise! |

Brian Travis wasn't happy with just singing, writing and
playing the Blues Harp. He needed to create the perfect
instrument that would allow him to play and still leave a hand
free for the beer - his Jamaican Rhumba Box does just that.
His real life experience is out there for all of us to
enjoy when he treats us to his own composition "KFC Blues".
Why are we telling you all of this? We must be crazy
because it's already hard enough to get a table at Bert's on
Wednesday night but we're also Yard Dog fans - we hope that
everyone can have a chance to enjoy their music and enjoyment
of life in Florida.
