| The Beaches of Sanibel |
| |
Stretching for miles, the
beaches of Sanibel are well known for their concentration of seashells but
they have more to offer than just digging for treasure.
A short
trip over the causeway from Cape Coral and Fort Myers you will discover
how lucky you are to be in Southwest Florida. |
Clusters of native plants
dot the sandy paths and shady nature trails that you might
walk on a cool, winter morning.
Even on weekends, you can find plenty of room to lounge in
a beach chair or to swim in the warm, Gulf waters. |
Sanibel is most famous for the wealth of seashells found
on the beaches. A combination of currents, tides and magic
spells have caused millions of shells to end here. Sunrise
frequently finds beachgoers armed with plastic bags and scoops
combing the sand for treasure.
Keep in mind that taking live shells is prohibited but
there are plenty of beautiful specimens that have been vacated
by their owners. |
