| Cabbage Key |
| |
The Caloosahatchee
River opens the door to the Gulf of Mexico, San Carlos Bay and
Pine Island Sound. Nestled in one small spot of Pine Island
sound, just a short jaunt off the Intracoastal Waterway, you
will find hidden treasures. One such place is Cabbage Key.
www.cabbagekey.com. Cabbage Key has a
restaurant and a bar that feels like the scene in a Randy
Wayne White novel. Overnight dock space is available as well
as rooms and cottages.
Accessible only by boat, the trip can easily be made in a 1-2
hours from the Tarpon Point area of Cape Coral. |

Usually the person you
see when you arrive at the dock is the Dockmaster. He's
a pretty busy guy and he knows where and how you are going to
dock your boat -- so our advice is to pay attention to his
directions. The entrance is deep enough for most boats
but it can be crowded when one of the ferries arrives with a
load of lunch guests.
The interior of the restaurant is a pretty interesting
place sporting wallpaper of dollar bills that cover every
possible space - including the piano. Feel free to contribute. |
